Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Written with honesty, passion and no little mastery of the written word,I found it compelling reading.

It is not pretty (though she herself is, and she shines like a beacon) and her story can be disconcerting in places. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Overall this is a very worthwhile read for anyone interested in a woman’s fight for the survival of herself and her child, and where it took her. Full of dreams and yearning for change, in her early twenties, Sandra embarked upon a journey to England with her then-husband and son, whose severe disabilities dismantled the marriage and she was left to fend alone for her and her son's survival. As your eyes open to the truth, you hear the chains breaking away to freedom and delight in how the worldly-wise beauty queen brought African sunshine, smiles and warmth to the friends and lovers in the grey North of England.

Sandra makes no apologies for the road that she took and I, for one, don’t believe that she should have to. What a wonderful read, a real emotional roller coaster, “life is like a game of cards the hand you are dealt is DETERMINISM the way you play it is FREE WILL i am not sure who said this! Likewise, when Sandra's life was bursting with experience of scandal, abuse, to rubbing shoulders with the rich and well-heeled, she retains nothing but reveals it all, to the fullest. When faced with the greatest challenges of her life, she ventures a most ghastly and terrifying path to an uncertain future.

On almost every page something to make you laugh, cry and cheer for Sandra and Alfred and I certainly did all. Rising from the 'grime' of Gorton, Manchester, Sandra breaks convention and rises into the sheets with the rich and powerful. It is a heartwarming fight of a gracious mother, desperate to get her son the medical care he so vitally needs, whilst his father seeks only to exploit him. Sandra is a supermum who's appreciation of the Country, UK, the City, Manchester, and the area,Gorton, that has adopted her and her Son, shines like the brightest light on the darkest night. She is the third born in a family of six, to a ruthless father known to the masses as 'Idi Amin', due to his brutality. I started the book the day before a number of flights home, I missed the inflight meals, movies etc. This is a must read page turning true account of an honest mothers love for her son, her survival, integrity and humanity for others along her journey. Holding nothing back, the illicit encounters and rampant rendezvous, be they Premier League stars or Irish VIPs, all are weaved in.
